MAAS principle

The basic principle and starting point of Molecules as a Service is to avoid harmful emissions or pollution as much as possible by finding end-of-life alternatives to incineration and landfills. If proper technologies are combined in an intelligent way, this in turns allows for the molecules involved to be recovered, recycled and perhaps even upcycled with a substitution potential for virgin materials. A portfolio of such initiatives with clear synergies between all solutions and operations is the outcome of this ambition.

However, keeping molecules as long and as much as possible in our economy is but part of the challenge. Of course, the energy balance needs to be favorable and recycling benefits must be justifiable against the energy required. Also, we work within a local context that can be globalized per geographical cluster, this to avoid waste from being transported around hence increasing eco-footprint because of the inherent logistics.

A flexible, scalable business model

This also links to our business model. We create solutions that can be implemented without massive economies of scale and at relatively low CAPEX cost as compared to alternatives. By separating geographically spread operational companies (OpCo’s) and a legal entity that creates intellectual property through continuous R&D and innovation (IPCo’s), we further enable globalizing the impact of our developments, but we can tailor them to local needs, ecosystem requirements, configuration and scale. Finally, it also allows us to look for investors on different levels, from locally involved only to global impact and scale focused.
