
Matthew Porters
Matthew is a Chemical Engineer who graduated from the University of Antwerp in 2021. His journey into the world of R&D began with an internship at Chemstream, where he worked on polymers used for dispersions. This experience sparked his passion for sustainability in plastics.
After graduation, Matthew joined the University of Antwerp’s research group iPRACS, focusing on the recycling of plastics. He started with the chemical recycling of PP and PE and later expanded his expertise to PU recycling. In 2022, he was granted a Baekeland Mandate to pursue a PhD with Triple Helix, where he is dedicated to closing the loop on rigid polyurethane foam recycling by separating its two base compounds.
Outside of his professional life, Matthew is an avid athlete. In 2021, he completed an Ironman in Mallorca, showcasing his dedication and perseverance both in and out of the lab.
