Alchemy
Many streams in industry are considered residual streams without being designated as waste. Nevertheless, when looking closer at how some of these streams are being treated or how they ‘seem to disappear’, it is clear that they are treated as such. Where G-BT is focusing on solid waste streams, Triple Helix Alchemy has chosen to find solutions to convert liquid and gaseous waste streams into valuable products. Interestingly, this also includes certain greenhouse gases (GHG) and some of the industry’s major enablers like sulphuric acid.

Alchemy IP
Triple Helix has a habit of combining multiple technologies and building blocks for any specific problem or challenge. For Alchemy, electro-chemistry is a very important building block, but both research and applications go way beyond just one technology. As always, our philosophy stays the same. We convert low value residual streams to solve an emission or pollution problem and we look for the proper technologies and business model to convert them into valuable products or feedstock. Our CO2 capturing initiative Electricon is a good example of this flexible approach.

Alchemy OPCO
Triple Helix Electricon, as described more in detail on our website, captures CO2 from a variety of sources, ranging from point sources, maritime to potentially even DAC. It then cleans the CO2 for CCU/S sequestration as SOx, NOx and other pollutants are stripped. Finally, the clean CO2 output is pressurized so that it can be transported in a cheap and efficient manner. The by-products of this process are hydrogen and oxygen. Obviously, this basic principle and mass balance can find applications in many domains. This and many similar initiatives are being developed within the Alchemy portfolio.
What we do

About our fields
There are many forms of recycling and quite frankly, we will need all of them at this point in time. Depending on the specific waste stream, we look for the most sustainable solution in terms of footprint, energy and value after recovery and conversion. This has led to 4 areas of interest in our portfolio.
